The new forum will take place on 1 October in Lisbon, bringing together operators, prediction market specialists, legal and regulatory experts, and technology leaders to examine the future of the sector.
Prediction markets have moved beyond their niche origins to become one of the most debated topics in the global gambling industry. Against this backdrop, SBC has announced the launch of the Global Prediction Markets Forum, a full-day event designed to bring together key industry voices to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector.
The forum will take place on Thursday, 1 October, at the Myriad Hotel in Lisbon, alongside SBC Summit 2026, providing a dedicated meeting point for stakeholders interested in the development of prediction markets.
The programme will bring together operators, prediction market specialists, legal and regulatory experts, and technology leaders. Key discussions will focus on evolving regulatory frameworks, the potential of prediction markets in Europe, the technical challenges involved in launching and integrating products, and the sector’s long-term outlook.
“Prediction markets have quickly become one of the biggest talking points in the industry, but as with any sector moving at this pace, the opportunities come with a lot of questions,” said Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC.
According to Sojmark, the forum aims to help operators considering entering the space understand how to do so effectively, safely and compliantly, while creating a platform where newcomers and experienced specialists can address the key questions surrounding the market.
Regulation and legal classification
Regulation will be one of the central themes of the forum. The session “Regulating futures: bridging the gap between the US and Europe” will examine how the regulatory landscape is developing on both sides of the Atlantic.
The panel will feature Andrew Lyman, Gambling Commissioner and Executive Director of the Government of Gibraltar; Charles Mizzi, CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority; Terence Cassar, Partner at GTG Legal; Zach Doctor, Co-Founder & CEO of WagerWire; and moderator Ron Segev, Founding Partner of Segev LLP.
The programme will also address one of the sector’s most significant legal questions: whether prediction markets should be classified as gambling products or financial trading instruments.
The session “The legal conundrum: are prediction markets gambling?” will feature Matt Kane, Head of Legal at Betr; Arthur Stadler, Founding Partner at Stadler Partner Attorneys; Steve Humenik, Chief Legal Officer at Crypto.com; and moderator Quirino Mancini, Partner at WH Partners Italy.
Technology and the future of the market
Technology will also take centre stage, with discussions focused on the challenges companies face when developing or integrating prediction market products.
During “Time to market: the technological hurdles to launching a prediction market product”, Andrew Gonzalez, CEO of ParlayX; Henrich Tauber, Head of Business Development at Limitless; Amit Mahensaria, CEO of Pred.app; and Guy Dotan, Co-Founder of WireMarkets, will examine integration options, technology requirements and solutions that could support a faster and more efficient route to market. The session will be moderated by Jeff Haas, Strategic Advisor at Binara.ai.
Meanwhile, “An industry on the cusp of boom or bust: what’s the future of futures?” will explore the segment’s growth prospects. John Aristotle Phillips, CEO of PredictIt; Joey Levo, CEO of Betr; and Noah Traisman, CEO of Winible, will discuss whether prediction markets can coexist with traditional sportsbooks and what the sector can learn from formats such as poker and daily fantasy sports.
Additional sessions will explore the role of strategic media partnerships in bringing prediction markets to mainstream audiences, the differences between prediction markets and sportsbooks, and the potential of peer-to-peer and fixed-odds models.
Access to the Global Prediction Markets Forum requires a separate ticket priced at €399. Each attendee will also receive a complimentary copy of SBC Insights’ Prediction Market Report 2026.
