Aviator Studio has announced a significant legal victory in Brazil after a federal court ordered the suspension of Spribe’s trademark registration for “Aviator,” strengthening the company’s position in the ongoing international dispute over the ownership of the brand.
The ruling was issued by the 18th Federal Civil Court of the Federal District and suspends the effects of Brazilian trademark registration No. 501759803, preventing Spribe from relying on exclusive rights associated with the trademark until a final judgment is reached.
The decision follows legal action brought by Aviator Studio Brazil, which argued that the Aviator brand had been created and used years before Spribe obtained trademark protection in the Brazilian market.
During the proceedings, Aviator Studio presented evidence showing that the Aviator trademark originated in Georgia in 2016 and was formally registered there in 2018, predating Spribe’s trademark registration in Brazil.
The court also took into account previous judicial decisions issued in Georgia that invalidated Spribe’s registration of the Aviator trademark and confirmed the rights of the original trademark owner.
According to Aviator Studio, the ruling marks an important step forward in the international protection of its intellectual property rights and reinforces its position regarding ownership of one of the industry’s most recognized gaming brands.
George Pruidze, CEO of Aviator Studio, emphasized the significance of the decision.
“This decision represents an important step in protecting the Aviator brand and enforcing intellectual property rights internationally. In practical terms, this means that, until the final resolution of the trademark invalidation proceedings, Spribe will no longer be able to continue disruptive practices against operators, including sending threatening letters or initiating legal actions related to the use of Aviator Studio’s trademark.”
He added that the company remains fully committed to defending the brand across all jurisdictions.
“We remain committed to protecting the integrity of the Aviator brand and ensuring that its legitimate ownership is recognized worldwide.”
Aviator Studio confirmed that it will continue pursuing all available legal avenues to safeguard its intellectual property rights and preserve the integrity of the Aviator trademark globally while the proceedings continue in Brazil.
The ruling represents another important chapter in a dispute that has attracted considerable attention across the international iGaming industry and could have broader implications for the commercial use of the Aviator brand in regulated markets worldwide.
