San Juan, Puerto Rico, September 3, 2026. GAT Events is putting the final preparations in place for the second edition of GAT Expo Puerto Rico, taking place on Wednesday, September 9, at The Condado Plaza Hotel in San Juan.
The event will combine an academic program, commercial exhibition and networking opportunities, bringing together regulators, operators, suppliers and professionals from the gaming and betting industry in Puerto Rico and the wider Caribbean region.
One of the event’s main highlights will be GAT Talks, a conference and panel program exploring the evolution of Puerto Rico’s gaming market, regulatory challenges and the opportunities emerging from innovation and technological transformation.
The official opening will be led by Juan Carlos Santaella, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission, and José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events, alongside representatives of the regulatory body and special guests.
Puerto Rico: from today’s market to tomorrow’s industry
The GAT Talks program will open with the conference “Puerto Rico: From Today’s Market to Tomorrow’s Industry”, presented by Juan Carlos Santaella, who will examine the development of the market from the Gaming Commission’s perspective and the current conditions shaping the island’s gaming industry.
The session will cover the different verticals within Puerto Rico’s regulated gaming ecosystem, including route machines, fantasy gaming, land-based casinos, horse racing and sports betting.
Next, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) will deliver “Puerto Rico: Leading the Evolution of Regulated Gaming in the Caribbean”, presented by José Carlos Figueroa, Regional Manager for the Caribbean.
The session will examine Puerto Rico’s position within the Caribbean’s regulated gaming ecosystem and the role of certification in ensuring quality and transparency as new games enter and operate within the market.
The program will continue with the panel “The Next Move: Innovation, Regulation and the Future in Puerto Rico”, led by the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission.
The discussion will be moderated by Alexandra Fuertes, Director of Legal Affairs at the Commission, with Lorraine Irizarry, Director of the Gaming Division, also taking part.
The panel will explore key regulatory and responsible gaming challenges arising from innovation, technology and market transformation, while considering the path toward a sustainable future for the industry.
Experience, product and market outlook
The afternoon program will feature Jaime Rivera, former Director of the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and partner at Saiber LLC, who will share his experience and perspective on the current state of the local market and its future prospects.
This will be followed by an Amusnet Master Class on slot product analysis, presented by Daniel Arias, Director of Amusnet for the Caribbean, Colombia and Central America.
The session will explore factors influencing machine performance, business profitability and player behavior, while providing tools to help operators balance player experience, gaming volume and commercial performance.
The academic program will conclude with the panel “The DNA of Gaming in Puerto Rico: A Retrospective and Sustainable Future”, featuring María Cristina Mari García, Senior Vice President at Hipódromo Camarero; Lorna Huertas, advisor to the Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and former Assistant Secretary of the Lottery Division; and Jaime Alex Irizarry, Director of Operations at Royal Gaming Logistics.
Representatives from the land-based casino and sports betting segments will also join the discussion, which will be moderated by José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of GAT Events.

The commercial exhibition will open at 10:00 a.m. on the second floor of The Condado Plaza Hotel, giving operators and industry professionals the opportunity to explore products, technologies, services and solutions for Puerto Rico’s different gaming verticals.
