SBC Summit Americas will introduce a dedicated Prediction Markets Forum, spotlighting one of the fastest-growing and most debated verticals in the US sports betting landscape.
Taking place on Thursday, June 11 as part of the Breakout Stage, the forum will bring together operators, legal experts, and industry analysts to explore the rise of prediction markets, the growing involvement of sportsbooks, and the regulatory and integrity challenges shaping the sector’s future. The four-session programme will be chaired by Patrick Everson, sports betting analyst and FOX Sports contributor.
The rapid growth of prediction markets can be traced back to the 2024 US presidential election, which brought event contracts into the mainstream. Since then, major operators such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics have taken steps to enter the space, while platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket continue to gain traction through high-profile athlete partnerships and long-term league agreements.
Despite this momentum, the sector faces increasing complexity. A wave of lawsuits and enforcement actions at the state level, combined with conflicting federal rulings, has created significant uncertainty around compliance.
“Prediction markets will define the American market in 2026. However, navigating the fine line between financial trading and traditional betting is creating real uncertainty for the industry,” said Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC. “This forum will bring together key stakeholders to help the industry understand what comes next.”
The forum will open with “Prediction Markets 101,” where Dan Zucker, President of Zucker Media Group, will explore the evolution of event contracts from their 19th-century origins to their emergence as a potential billion-dollar vertical. He will also explain how these markets function and why they are expanding so rapidly.
In “How Sportsbooks Are Entering the World of Event Contracts,” experts including Dr. Laila Mintas, David Huffman, and Dustin Gouker will examine how and why leading US operators are moving into the space, and whether state-level partnerships will be key to their strategies.
The panel “A Question of Compliance and Integrity” will focus on regulatory challenges, with legal expert Dan Wallach discussing the current framework, ongoing lawsuits, and the compliance hurdles operators must navigate.
Looking ahead, “What’s the Future of Futures?” will explore the long-term impact of prediction markets. Speakers Ilya Beylin, Robin D. Hanson, and Chris Gerlacher will discuss potential Supreme Court scrutiny and what lies ahead for both land-based operators and online sportsbooks.
The topic will also feature on the Leaders Stage with “The Current State of Prediction Markets in the US,” where Joshua B. Sterling and Alex Kane will analyse how the sector is evolving across North America and how stakeholders are responding.
The Prediction Markets Forum is part of SBC Summit Americas’ two-day conference programme, which also covers sports betting and casino, payments and technology, regulation and compliance, affiliation, leadership, and player protection across North and Latin America.
