Jaime Vives Pinedo Appointed New President of Coljuegos

The new Coljuegos president brings more than 30 years of management experience and will take on the challenge of strengthening the fight against illegal gambling and increasing funding for Colombia’s healthcare sector.

Jaime Vives Pinedo has officially taken office as President of Coljuegos, the Colombian state-owned entity responsible for administering the country’s gaming monopoly, following his appointment under Decree 1430 of 2026.

Vives Pinedo holds a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Santo Tomás and a postgraduate specialization in Senior Management from the Universidad del Magdalena.

The new Coljuegos president brings more than 30 years of experience in management positions at companies involved in production and commercial operations, giving him extensive experience in organizational leadership and management.

Key challenges ahead at Coljuegos

One of his main responsibilities will be to strengthen efforts against illegal gambling and protect the collection of exploitation rights associated with gambling activities.

He will also oversee the different gaming sectors operating in Colombia, including both land-based establishments and online platforms.

Another key objective will be to contribute to increasing the funds allocated to the country’s healthcare sector, generated through the regulated gaming industry.

After taking office, Vives Pinedo highlighted the importance of leading an institution that generates significant resources for healthcare in Colombia and identified the fight against illegal activity as one of his main priorities.

“It is an honor to take on this role leading an institution that contributes millions in resources to the healthcare of Colombians every year. My mission is to fight decisively against illegal activity in this industry and increase revenues for our country’s subsidized healthcare system.”

With Jaime Vives Pinedo now at the helm, Coljuegos will continue overseeing Colombia’s gaming market at a time when regulation, market supervision and efforts to combat illegal operations remain key issues for the country’s gambling industry.
