Continent 8 Technologies has announced its expansion into Africa with the launch of a new data centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, extending its managed technology solutions for the global iGaming and online sports betting industry into the region.
The new facility is scheduled to go live in Q4 2026 and will represent Continent 8’s first deployment on the African continent.
From Johannesburg, the company will provide its portfolio of managed technology, connectivity, cloud and cybersecurity solutions, supported by its private global network and digital infrastructure.
According to Continent 8, the local deployment will enable operators, platform providers and content suppliers to deliver faster and more consistent digital experiences to players in South Africa while remaining connected to their international operations and partners.
Johannesburg becomes a new connectivity hub
The expansion forms part of Continent 8’s global growth strategy and is intended to bring its technology infrastructure and services closer to businesses operating in the South African market.
Mike Small, CEO at Continent 8 Technologies, described the expansion as an important milestone for the company and highlighted South Africa’s position as a major regulated betting market.
“Expanding into Africa is a significant milestone for Continent 8 and a natural next step in our global growth strategy. South Africa is one of the most important regulated betting markets in the world, and establishing a presence in Johannesburg allows us to bring the full strength of the Continent 8 platform closer to customers operating in the region,” Small said.
The executive added that, beyond local infrastructure, customers will have access to Continent 8’s private global network, cybersecurity expertise, cloud ecosystem and international connectivity infrastructure.
The company expects this combination to support customers as they develop new solutions, scale their operations and manage activities across multiple jurisdictions through a connected infrastructure.
