SOFTSWISS Launches 2027 iGaming Trends Report with a Broader View Beyond the Sector

The fifth edition of the research draws on insights from more than 500 experts and analysis of over 480,000 media headlines, while introducing a new comparison between iGaming and other digital industries.

SOFTSWISS has launched its 2027 iGaming Trends Report, the latest edition of its annual research exploring the trends, shifts and narratives shaping the future of the industry.

Co-authored with WorldGaming, formerly Clarion, the report is based on a survey of more than 500 experts and an analysis of over 480,000 media headlines. According to SOFTSWISS, it represents the company’s most extensive research effort to date for tracking developments across the iGaming sector.

The 2027 edition also marks the fifth anniversary of the report and includes Tier-1 case studies highlighting real-world examples of business growth, market expansion and performance.

Looking beyond iGaming

One of the key additions to this year’s edition is the “Beyond iGaming” chapter, which compares iGaming with industries including e-commerce, sports, film, gaming, streaming, e-pharma and crypto.

The research examines these sectors across areas such as market size, growth, regulatory burden and digital maturity, providing a broader context for understanding the development and economic footprint of iGaming.

Alexandra Kavelich, Deputy CMO at SOFTSWISS, said that future competitive advantages in iGaming will extend beyond content to areas such as regulatory readiness, secure payment journeys, intelligent risk management, customer communication and technology platforms capable of responding quickly to regulatory changes.

Regional perspectives and new contributors

WorldGaming, as a general partner and co-author of the report, also provides a regional perspective on the regulatory and market developments expected to shape iGaming in 2027.

The analysis looks at jurisdictions that could experience stronger growth, key trends for businesses to monitor and the importance of local knowledge and market presence across different regions.

Robin Harrison, Global Content Director B2B at WorldGaming, noted that the industry is becoming increasingly global while also becoming more local, as regulation, taxation, payments, competition and player behaviour continue to differ significantly between markets.

The report also brings contributions from companies outside the iGaming sector. Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides an analysis of how artificial intelligence is moving from pilot projects into production across gaming, betting, sports, media and fintech.

Meanwhile, H2 Gambling Capital contributes data on GGR growth and regional trends, while Pentasia provides a hiring outlook focused on the skills and roles expected to shape the industry’s future.
