Vyking has designed and developed the entire player experience, including its mobile product, while FIRST.bet powers pricing, trading, risk management, bet acceptance and settlement behind the scenes.
Data-driven iGaming platform provider and games aggregator Vyking has built its own sportsbook on SportOS, the frontend-less sportsbook operating system from Tier-1 sportsbook technology provider FIRST.bet.
The model gives Vyking full control over the player experience while FIRST.bet provides the sportsbook infrastructure running underneath it. Vyking’s product team designed and developed the complete interface, including the mobile experience, while also defining how markets are presented, how users navigate the product and how the bet slip behaves.
This approach allows Vyking to tailor its sportsbook to the behaviour and needs of players across the markets served by its operator network, rather than relying on a standard supplier frontend or a shared product roadmap.
SportOS is designed for businesses that want to differentiate themselves through their own sportsbook product. Vyking took responsibility for the design, frontend development and testing, while FIRST.bet continues to operate the underlying sportsbook engine.
Behind Vyking’s frontend, FIRST.bet provides the core sportsbook capabilities, including pricing, trading, risk management, bet acceptance and settlement. The two companies will also continue working together on the development of new backend capabilities.
Tom Light, Founder and CEO of FIRST.bet, said the project demonstrates the purpose of SportOS, allowing businesses to build their own player experience without having to adopt their technology provider’s visual identity.
“Vyking had a clear view of what their clients needed and they built it themselves. That is what SportOS is for.”
Light added that FIRST.bet’s role is to provide the sportsbook engine behind the product, while the experience presented to players remains fully owned by Vyking.
Franz Gerhart, CEO of Vyking, said the company wanted to create a sportsbook that reflected how players behave across its operators’ markets.
“We designed the product, our team wrote the frontend, and we put real work into the mobile experience, because that is where the players are.”
Gerhart also highlighted the flexibility of the model, particularly when it comes to making changes to the player experience.
The FIRST.bet sportsbook is now available to every brand within Vyking’s operator network, either through an iFrame or as a feed via SportOS.
The partnership demonstrates a model in which sportsbook infrastructure and player experience can be developed separately, giving Vyking ownership of its product identity and evolution while FIRST.bet provides the technology powering the sportsbook behind it.
