The International Betting Integrity Association’s latest report highlights regulated markets, monitoring, and education as key pillars in protecting the integrity of sport.
The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has released its Q2 2026 Integrity Report, revealing 76 suspicious betting alerts across nine different sports, with football and esports accounting for more than half of all reported cases during the quarter.
The report provides an updated overview of global betting integrity trends and reinforces the importance of well-regulated betting markets in detecting and addressing suspicious betting activity.
A dedicated section of the report focuses on Canada, examining how a competitive regulatory framework—including the recent launch of Alberta’s regulated online betting market—is helping channel betting activity toward licensed operators subject to effective integrity monitoring.
The report also highlights IBIA’s athlete integrity education programme in Canada, which aims to strengthen prevention efforts by equipping athletes with the knowledge needed to identify, manage, and report integrity risks before they escalate.
According to IBIA, safeguarding sporting integrity requires a multi-layered approach that combines regulation, monitoring, and education.
