SiGMA confirms Brazil event for 2024

SiGMA Americas has announced that it will hold its next event for the LatAm market in Brazil.

July 17, 2023

The São Paulo-based expo and conference, which will take place at the Transamerica Expo Centre from the 23rd – 26th April, 2024, follows the success of the inaugural SiGMA Americas summit launched the last June.

Held in association with the Brazil iGaming Summit (BIS), a Brazil-based events company acquired by the SiGMA Group this year, the expo offers exciting opportunities for key players in the iGaming and emerging tech sectors to tap into SiGMA’s wide-reaching network of affiliates, operators, KOLs, and top government officials, and regulators.

SiGMA will also host 3 additional networking events in Brazil next year – equivalent in style to its well known iGatherings.

Brazil’s Vice-President shows support for gaming regulation

Although a considerable effort is currently being made by the federal government in Brazil to implement a state-wide legislation for gambling, there have been several hindrances and roadblocks, including rejection of an emergency bill intended to fast track the country’s sports betting market. Congressional leaders remain undecided with regards to deciding if sports-betting should be regulated on a nationwide or state-specific level.

In a noteworthy development last week, Brazil’s Vice-President, Geraldo Alckmin, held a meeting with Mor Weizer, the CEO of Playtech. The meeting was arranged by deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), who leads the party in the Chamber and actively advocates for the regulation of the gambling sector and sports betting. During the discussion, Alckmin expressed clear support for the legalization of gambling and sports betting, indicating a potential shift in Brazil’s stance on the matter. The meeting highlighted the promising opportunity for lucrative investments in Brazil, with Playtech demonstrating its endorsement for the regulation of these forms of chance-based entertainment in the country.
