The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has published its 2026 Annual Activity Report, outlining the organisation’s key achievements over the past twelve months while presenting aggregated market data from its member operators across Europe’s online gambling sector.
The report highlights EGBA’s continued efforts to strengthen industry standards in areas including player protection, responsible advertising and anti-money laundering (AML), while also showcasing the association’s growing role in representing the regulated online gambling industry.
Among the year’s major milestones was the fifth edition of the European Safer Gambling Week, which recorded its highest levels of participation and impact to date. For the first time, responsible gambling messages were broadcast during live televised football matches in several European countries, significantly expanding the campaign’s reach.
EGBA also launched safergambling.eu, a dedicated online platform providing country-specific support resources, including national helplines and self-exclusion tools for players across Europe.
The report further highlights the publication of the association’s 2025 Sustainability Report, which demonstrated continued progress in members’ sustainability initiatives and, for the first time, included data on their tax contributions to European economies.
Another significant achievement was the approval of the first European standard on markers of harm for online gambling, an initiative originally proposed by EGBA in 2022 to strengthen the early identification of harmful gambling behaviours. The association also introduced the Responsible Influencer Marketing Pledge in partnership with the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), promoting responsible practices in influencer-led marketing.
Over the past year, EGBA expanded its membership by welcoming Tipico as its ninth full operator member and Yaspa as a new associate member. The organisation also strengthened its secretariat with new specialists covering public policy, regulatory affairs and engagement with European Union institutions.
In addition to reviewing the association’s activities, the report provides aggregated 2025 market data from EGBA members, including return-to-player (RTP) figures, customer winnings, product offerings and licensing information.
Commenting on the report, Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA, said:
“It was a landmark year for EGBA in several respects: the most impactful European Safer Gambling Week yet, the approval of the first European standard on markers of harm, new standards on influencer marketing, and continued progress under our AML Guidelines.”
Haijer also highlighted Finland’s regulatory reform as one of the year’s most significant developments.
“Finland’s transition to a multi-licensed market is a major development that we have long advocated for. It reinforces our long-held view that competitive, well-regulated markets are the most effective way to protect consumers and combat the illegal market. Looking ahead, we will continue our efforts to develop industry standards and promote balanced, smart regulation across Europe.”
