Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) Pioneers Accreditation to Certify Gaming and Betting in Peru

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®), a global leader in gaming testing, inspection, and certification, achieves a significant milestone by becoming the first accredited laboratory to certify online gaming, betting, and in-person sports betting in Peru. This accreditation, granted by the General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines of Peru (DGJCMT), expands the longstanding partnership between GLI and the Peruvian regulator, now encompassing both land-based gaming and the rapidly expanding world of online platforms and sports betting.
The newly obtained accreditation empowers GLI to conduct testing and audits across a wide range of online gaming offerings and in-person sports betting, in compliance with the new legislation and decrees enacted in 2023.
James Maida, President and CEO of GLI, expressed gratitude to the DGJCMT for their transparency and clarity in the accreditation process, highlighting GLI’s commitment to fulfilling regulatory needs to ensure the continuity and growth of the gaming industry in Peru. Maida also praised Peru’s role as a regulatory model in Latin America and globally, underscoring the reputation and dedication of the Peruvian regulatory team over more than two decades.
This accreditation marks the latest achievement in GLI’s long history of collaboration with the Latin American region. Since 1998, GLI has provided services in Peru, becoming the first accredited laboratory in the country and setting standards for the gaming industry in Latin America. Peru has been a pioneer in adopting technical standards and certification processes, demonstrating its commitment to integrity and regulatory excellence.
GLI’s celebration of this achievement also extends to the regulatory process that led to the new legislation, highlighting the active participation of the Peruvian gaming industry and openness to public feedback that resulted in modern and agile regulation. Recently, the DGJCMT, in collaboration with the Peruvian gaming industry, achieved the interconnection of over 80,000 gaming machines, showcasing a progressive and future-oriented approach.
