SBC Summit Relocates to Lisbon for 2024 Edition

September 26, 2023

In a significant move, SBC’s flagship global event, formerly known as SBC Summit Barcelona, is set to find its new home in Lisbon starting from 2024. This transition is driven by the event’s remarkable growth and the need to accommodate the industry’s fastest-growing gathering. As a result, the event will be rebranded as SBC Summit 2024 to better reflect its global reach and significance.

SBC Summit is renowned for its ability to bring together industry professionals from around the world, transcending geographical boundaries and encompassing diverse sectors. The 2024 edition is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26 at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL), offering a staggering 100,000 square meters of exhibition and conference space—more than twice the size of the 2023 venue, which measured 38,000 square meters.

This expanded capacity will allow SBC Summit 2024 to host 600 exhibitors, nearly doubling the number compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the event will now comfortably accommodate 25,000 attendees at FIL, including operators, affiliates, suppliers, regulators, payment providers, marketing agencies, legal advisors, start-ups, and more.

Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, emphasized the need for a new venue, stating that the event’s growth had outpaced the capacity of its previous location, Fira Barcelona Montjuïc. He also noted the overwhelming support from clients and industry stakeholders, affirming its status as the fastest-growing event in the industry.

Despite its expansion, SBC Summit remains committed to delivering an exceptional delegate experience. The conference will feature eight stages and 500 speakers, including the industry’s largest gaming stage with seating for thousands of delegates. Delegates can also expect a diverse culinary experience with food trucks offering local and international dishes, as well as 24/7 beverage service. The event will provide ample networking and business opportunities through numerous bars, coffee shops, ice cream lounges, a beer garden, a beach bar, game zones, and more.

Maria João Rocha de Matos, General Director of FIL, expressed enthusiasm about hosting SBC Summit in Lisbon, emphasizing the dedication to providing top-notch facilities and support to ensure the event’s success. Lisbon, renowned for its rich history and welcoming atmosphere, offers excellent transportation options and boasts a vibrant culinary scene with over 20 dining options within walking distance of the venue.

Given its global nature, Lisbon’s extensive flight connectivity, primarily through Humberto Delgado Airport, located just 4 km from FIL, makes it an ideal choice. The city is no stranger to hosting major international events, with the annual Web Summit gathering over 70,000 attendees and transforming Lisbon into a tech hub.

Rasmus Sojmark expressed excitement about this unique moment for SBC, embracing the possibilities offered by the new venue and the city of Lisbon.
