An event made by Latin Americans to Latin Americans: The view of Alessandro Valente, Co Founder of BIS – Sigma Americas

June 23, 2023 / Exclusive content

BIS – Sigma Americas is currently one of the biggest events for the Latin American gaming industry. Alessandro Valente, Co Founder of Brazilian iGaming Summit and CEO of Superafiliados, gave us an interesting interview where he shares details about this important summit, as well as  his perception of the development of the Brazilian and the Latin American market.

  • Sigma Americas has finally arrived. Would you tell us how you feel about the development of this important event?

It has been a challenging organization. Organizing all this event. As you can see, it’s one of the biggest now in Latin America, and it has been challenging but very supportive from the team to help us in any aspect that we needed. And that’s the final result. We have achieved a great number of attendees companies here. We have about 240 plus operators and suppliers and the media as well attended the conference. So it has been great. So far, so good.

  • Really good. How many exhibitors are participating in this edition?

So between exhibitors and sponsors and partners, we have about 240-250. So we’ve stands as big as 60, 70, 100m². So it’s quite a large event.

  • During these three days of the event, conferences with very interesting topics for the industry are held for the Brazilian and for the Latin American market. How was the process of selection of topics and panelists?

That’s very easy. We used to have an event here in Brazil organized by another company, and they were always focusing on bringing more foreigners to talk about their experiences abroad. We took a different direction. We have decided that the content should be primarily Brazilian and Latin American. It should, and it will remain like that because that’s the key to the success of the conference is being so popular, attended by hundreds, thousands actually, of people attending on stage and then watching recorded. Everything is being recorded. And this is one of the keys to success. So it’s made by us Latin Americans to Latin Americans, not Europeans to us. We invite many people and companies because they have a very mature market, a very mature situation, and this is very important as a reference. But as you know, we are a little bit different in certain aspects. So that’s one of the keys for us.

  • Taking advantage of your expertise in the Brazilian entertainment industry, can you tell us about the online gambling law?

Oh, so that’s a tough one because we have a regulation pending to be sorted for years. Now we are entering the fifth year. It’s not the best legalization that came. So the law only covers sports betting products, the vertical. It doesn’t cover casino lotteries, etcetera, etcetera. So for us, it’s a little bit tricky. For me personally, it should have legalized the whole industry, every vertical, because, on any website you go to now, you will see sports betting, of course, casino products, crash games, poker, lottery, etcetera. And these all have to be in the bill as well, passed in Congress, Senate. And the president has to sign and someone has to regulate.
