The company used recycled materials at its SBC Summit stand, reduced paper use, joined a beach clean-up in Lisbon and will support VIVA Lab’s educational projects.
BGaming has brought its WE CARE. WE ACT sustainability initiative to Portugal through a series of activities carried out during SBC Summit Lisbon and in partnership with local organizations.
As part of the initiative, the iGaming content provider incorporated recycled materials into its stand design, reduced its use of printed materials, supported non-profit organization VIVA Lab and took part in a beach clean-up in Lisbon with its team.
Recycled Materials and Reduced Paper Use
BGaming’s SBC Summit stand featured panels made from recycled materials. The company also reduced the amount of printed material used at the event, replacing traditional brochures and product leaflets with a single recyclable card featuring a QR code.
According to BGaming, the move helped avoid printing approximately 16 kilograms of paper.
The initiative also extended to the company’s merchandise. The range included products made from organic and eco-friendly cotton, as well as poker sets made from 100% recycled plastic, with more than 95% of the material coming from post-consumer waste and no glue or toxic additives used.
BGaming also used 7 kilograms of recycled plastic to produce carabiners, giving the material a new purpose.
Taking Action on Lisbon’s Beaches
Following the expo, the BGaming team took part in a beach clean-up organized by the Lisbon Oceanarium.
During two hours of activity, the team collected 2 kilograms of plastic and 1 kilogram of cigarette butts. The initiative helped remove waste that could otherwise have reached the ocean and affected the wider ecosystem.
Beyond its environmental impact, BGaming described the activity as an opportunity to strengthen team collaboration and put the WE CARE. WE ACT principle into practice.
Kate Puteiko, CMO at BGaming, said the initiative is intended to turn sustainability into concrete action and highlighted the beach clean-up as one of the activities she was most looking forward to.
Supporting Education Through Plastic Recycling
BGaming has also partnered with VIVA Lab, a Porto-based laboratory that develops educational projects and works on initiatives related to plastic recycling.
Through the partnership, BGaming will support VIVA Lab’s Precious Plastic project and its Plastic Play educational activities.
The program will include 10 activities for up to 240 students, who will learn how to reuse and transform plastic as part of a hands-on approach to sustainability and the circular economy.
Approximately 60 to 70 kilograms of polypropylene (PP) are expected to be transformed through the activities, creating measurable social, environmental and educational impact.
Alexandra Baltazar, Chief Education Officer at VIVA Lab Porto, said the partnership will help expand the reach of Plastic Play and inspire more young people to explore plastic recycling as a practical tool for learning about sustainability and the circular economy.
The initiative also includes the development of a manual that could allow the activities to be replicated in other European spaces working with Precious Plastic machines.
