Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism says 86 platforms have now been blocked for operating without authorization, while another 157 are scheduled to be blocked during 2026.
Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has blocked 50 online gaming and sports betting platforms that were offering services to users in the country without the required authorization.
The measure was carried out by Mincetur’s General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines (DGJCMT) in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), as part of efforts to enforce Law No. 31557, which regulates online gaming and remote sports betting activities in Peru.
Following the latest action, the number of platforms blocked for operating without authorization has reached 86, out of a total of 157 platforms scheduled to be blocked during 2026.
Mincetur steps up online gaming enforcement
In addition to blocking platforms, Mincetur said its enforcement efforts have led to the removal of gaming-related content and payment methods connected to websites operating without the required authorization.
According to the Ministry, these measures have directly affected the operational and financial capacity of unauthorized operators and have helped reduce the illegal online gaming offering by more than 50%.
Enforcement activities are being carried out both online and through in-person inspections across the country.
As part of these efforts, Mincetur also reported the recent seizure of equipment used for sports betting at an unauthorized venue in Chilca, in the Junín region. The operation was carried out jointly by Mincetur, the National Police of Peru (PNP) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, under Law No. 31557.
To date, the Ministry has ordered the closure of 17 sports betting venues and 10 slot machine halls. It has also carried out 5,195 inspections at casino and slot machine venues, as well as 4,572 enforcement actions involving online platforms and betting venues.
Database of approximately 2,000 domains
As part of its monitoring activities, the DGJCMT maintains a database of approximately 2,000 domains collected from lists of websites identified as illegal or unauthorized by authorities in other countries.
The database is used as a reference to identify and investigate platforms that may be operating illegally in Peru.
Mincetur said these measures reaffirm its commitment to the formalization of the gaming sector and to promoting a responsible and safe gaming environment.
Penalties for illegal gambling
Under Peru’s Criminal Code, people who promote or participate in illegal gambling activities may face prison sentences ranging from one to four years, in addition to other administrative measures.
Against this backdrop, Mincetur called on the public to support efforts against illegal gambling by reporting unauthorized sports betting venues, casinos and slot machine establishments.
Reports can be submitted by calling (01) 513-6113 or by email at denuncias_casinos@mincetur.gob.pe.
