Gaming in Finland to officially launch at ICE Barcelona 2026

With Finland’s iGaming re-regulation approaching, Gaming in Europe —the organization behind initiatives such as Gaming in Holland, Gaming in Spain and Gaming in Germany— has announced the launch of its latest project, Gaming in Finland, which will officially debut at ICE Barcelona 2026.

The initiative will be introduced through an evening conference taking place on January 19, 2026, from 18:00 to 22:00, in Barcelona, alongside one of the most important global gatherings for the gaming industry.

Organized in close collaboration with key local stakeholders, the event will combine networking opportunities, food and drinks, with a content-driven agenda focused on exploring the opportunities and challenges presented by Finland’s upcoming regulated iGaming market.

Key industry voices

The conference will feature contributions from leading industry experts and executives:

Pekka Ilmivalta, Head of Finnish Office, Nordic Legal
Morten Ronde, Founding Partner, Nordic Legal
Jari Vähänen, Founding Partner, The Finnish Gambling Consultants
Mika Kuismanen, CEO, The Finnish Trade Association for Online Gambling
Josh Hodgson, COO, H2 Gambling Capital
Niklas Bondestam, CEO, Ubetec
Jessica Maier, Co-Founder, EGARA
Paul Foster, CEO, Crucial Compliance

Commenting on the initiative, Morten Ronde, Founding Partner at Nordic Legal, highlighted the significance of Finland’s upcoming market opening. He noted that Finland’s move to open its gambling market in 2027 represents a rare opportunity for operators and suppliers to enter a newly regulated European market from day one. According to Ronde, the Barcelona event will combine expert insight into the Finnish regulatory framework with high-quality networking opportunities for those seeking an early foothold.

Willem van Oort, founder of Gaming in Europe, added that after a long wait, Finland is set to re-regulate its iGaming market in 2026. Drawing comparisons with other Nordic markets, he stated that local demand for regulated gambling is expected to be substantial. He also emphasized the strong interest from operators and explained that, together with local stakeholders, the initiative aims to provide the knowledge and connections required for a successful market entry.
