The 2025 edition brings together 221 partners across 24 countries and expands for the first time to football matches and retail outlets
The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has announced record-breaking results from the fifth edition of European Safer Gambling Week, held from 17–23 November 2025. The initiative united Europe’s gambling industry for a dedicated week of coordinated action to raise awareness around safer and more responsible gambling.
This year’s campaign featured a comprehensive social media initiative, a programme of industry events, the launch of a new dedicated resource website, and—for the first time—activations at televised football matches and retail betting outlets across several European markets.
In total, 221 partners actively participated in the initiative, representing a 14% increase compared to 2024, with strong engagement recorded across 24 countries. Additionally, seven regulatory authorities took part in the campaign, either by contributing to the social media initiative or by speaking at campaign events.
The social media campaign led by EGBA members reached an estimated 4.1 million users, marking a 32% year-on-year increase. More than 1,280 posts featuring accessible safer gambling messages in local languages were shared across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
European Safer Gambling Week messaging was also showcased during eight televised football matches in Bulgaria, Germany, Greece and Italy through pitch-side LED banners, in-stadium mega screens and public address announcements. These activations introduced the campaign and promoted safety messages tailored to local audiences. In addition, for the first time, themed safer gambling messaging was displayed across major retail betting outlets.
The campaign delivered 23 events and online sessions across Europe, attracting approximately 4,000 registrations and more than 2,500 attendees, alongside 120 industry speakers. Key topics included markers of harm, responsible advertising, minor protection, self-exclusion, the role of payment providers, and the negative impact of the black market on consumer protection. Recordings of the sessions are available online.
This year’s edition also marked the launch of the dedicated website www.safergambling.eu, which provides country-specific helpline information and access to support resources, including self-exclusion options across Europe.
European Safer Gambling Week builds on the year-round commitment of EGBA members to player protection and the promotion of safe and sustainable play. In 2024 alone, members shared more than 100 million safer gambling messages with their European customers.
